Get ready to help us celebrate International Women’s Day with our Beacon Lecture speaker Maria O’Loan – it’s going to be inspiring!

The Athena Swan Committee of QUB School of the Built and Natural Environment invite you to join us at our annual Beacon Lecture to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026: ‘Who Shapes the World? Women in climate Science, activism and the law’.

Date: Monday 9th March, refreshments served at 12.15

Location: David Keir Building, Stranmillis Road

Our event will be opened by Donna Lyle, Associate Director at Turley and Chair of Women in Planning Northern Ireland.

Tughans Head of Planning and Environment, Maria O’Loan will explore how women – from Eunice Foote to Greta Thunberg – have shaped climate knowledge, driven landmark litigation and are reshaping how we plan, build and litigate in Northern Ireland.

Maria’s paper will be followed by a panel discussion.
