A Celebration of Biodiversity Action in Cork City

Biodiversity encompasses the variety of life on Earth. Humans are a part of biodiversity, and can have both positive and negative interactions with the natural systems of which we are part.

Biodiversity supports life on Earth through climate regulation, food provision, recycling of nutrients and recirculating and cleaning processes. It is therefore essential that Biodiversity is protected. This event celebrates the Biodiversity of our city and draws attention to the many positive actions being undertaken to support nature in Cork City and Cork City Administrative Area.

A lot is being done, and it is important to highlight these efforts and learn from these actions. This conference celebrates different local actions that have been done, and aims to recognise the collective achievements that have been made in recent times. A range of speakers will highlight their experience in this realm with the aim of learning from one another. Speakers include representatives from Green Spaces for Health, National Parks and Wildlife Service, Cork Nature Network, Cork City Climate Action Team, Community Groups, UCC, Wildworks SECAD and Cork City Biodiversity Officers.

The conference will provide an opportunity to network and to provide input to highlight future priorities for Biodiversity. The event will be hosted in the Clayton Hotel, Lapps Quay, overlooking the mighty River Lee, and is free of charge. Some refershements will be provided.

The event is hosted by Cork City Council, with support from the Heritage Council and National Parks and Wildlife Service. The event is organised through Cork City Council and the Heritage Council Local Authority Biodiversity Officer programme. The organisers would like to thank all speakers and participants.
