This half-day conference explored the ‘cost’ of environmental justice on the island of Ireland from two angles (i) what are the financial costs for citizens and NGOs who pursue environmental justice through the legal systems and how can we develop our understanding of the rules around costs in both jurisdictions? (ii) what sources of funding and other supports are available to citizens and NGOs in both jurisdictions, and are new initiatives required?
Demystifying the cost of environmental justice on the island of Ireland
The event brought together legal practitioners, NGOs, academics and environmental protectors with the goal of exploring the costs regimes around litigation north and south of the border in Ireland, hear the experiences of litigants who have taken strategic environmental cases to date and consider the rules around funding cases. Panellists include international and domestic experts working in these areas.
