Extreme weather events such as heatwaves, droughts, storms and flooding are increasing in frequency and severity across the UK. Join Westminster Insight’s one-day conference for practical insights on how we can build resilience to extreme weather events, reduce risk, and prepare people, homes, businesses, and infrastructure.
Understand more about the risks and opportunities of climate change and the UK’s third National Adaptation Programme (NAP3). We will cover the key actions set out in the UK Resilience Framework and what to expect from the new Labour Government.
Gain insight into the lessons learnt from multi-agency crisis responses to previous extreme weather events. What does success look like? Learn how to boost your infrastructure and keep services running through extreme weather events.
To be better prepared for what lies ahead, we will discuss future UK climate predictions and identify patterns and trends. You will hear from an insurance provider about recovering after extreme weather events, and how the UK can build better insurance resilience for flooding.
We will learn how to nudge and engage effectively with the public, embedding responsible actions and behaviours to help mitigate risk and protect public health during extreme weather events.
Network and share ideas with colleagues from across local authorities, emergency services, central government, and infrastructure.
Location: The Institution of Structural Engineers, London & Online
