The Irish Geoparks Forum is hosted annually by the Irish UNESCO Global Geoparks Committee. It provides an opportunity for all those with an interest in UNESCO Global Geoparks on the island of Ireland (and further afield) to come together and exchange knowledge and ideas.

UNESCO Global Geoparks have a significant role to play in raising awareness of climate change and its impacts, as well as being committed to delivering actions that help to mitigate and adapt to climate. To highlight this role, the theme of this year’s Forum is ‘Climate Change: past, present and future’.

We are delighted to have as our guest speaker Sara Gentilini from Magma UNESCO Global Geopark in Norway and founder of the GEOfood initiative. Created to strengthen the cooperation between local farmers and food enterprises within UNESCO Global Geoparks, the GEOfood initiative aims to increase sustainable agricultural practices and promote net zero food chains and healthy lifestyles.

There will also be updates on UNESCO, the Global Geoparks Network, the current situation with UNESCO Global Geoparks in Ireland, as well as updates from each of the existing and aspiring UNESCO Global Geoparks on the island.

This event is FREE and open to all. It is suitable for those already working in or with UNESCO Global Geoparks, as well as those interested in heritage, sustainable development, education, tourism and conservation.
