Recent studies have clearly articulated that a key threat posed by Brexit for environmental governance on the island of Ireland is divergence in environmental regulation. This divergence can occur across a range of axes such as legal rules or technical divergence on paper, implementation divergence in practice, policy divergence, social divergence resulting in different outcomes, and political divergence affecting the willingness of political actors to act to remedy the different forms of divergence. This webinar will explore the findings of a new report ‘Monitoring post-Brexit environmental divergence on the island of Ireland: The role of civil society’ followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session with the authors.
