Events

Organiser: EJNI

Date: October 9, 2025

Location: Online - Zoom

Times: 10am-11am

Cost: Free

The Department of Climate, Energy, and the Environment is currently holding a public consultation on the development of Ireland’s Social Climate Plan. The consultation is open until October 23rd. Available at: https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-climate-energy-and-the-environment/consultations/consultation-on-the-development-of-irelands-social-climate-plan/

EJNI held an upcoming webinar where we presented and discussed our response to the Department’s consultation on the SCP. We hope this session will also help inform and support your own submission to this important consultation.

Additional Information:

• In May 2025, EJNI published our six key priorities, which we believe should be addressed and included in the SCP to ensure it is fit for purpose. Available at: https://ejni.net/publications/what-irelands-social-climate-plan-must-include-six-key-priorities/

• The Social Climate Plan is the national plan required under the EU Social Climate Fund Regulation. Its purpose is to ensure that the costs of the green transition do not fall disproportionately on low-income households, vulnerable transport users, and micro-enterprises. Each Member State must set out targeted measures and investments to reduce energy and transport poverty and ensure a fair and inclusive transition.
