Belfast Exposed is an exposé of environmental justice issues in Greater Belfast.
Join us over lunchtime as we unveil the destruction caused by industries surrounding Belfast which are destroying our land, water and air.
12.30 – Welcome
Focusing on four areas we will watch short films and hear more about the following:
Earth: Noose around Belfast – how the chaotic expansion of the quarrying industry has expanded in plain sight around Belfast.
Air: Belfast can’t breathe – the chronic state of air pollution in Belfast.
Fire: Burn Baby Burn – how the circular economy is being undermined by incineration.
Water: Going through the motions – pollution is killing Lough Neagh, Belfast Lough is next.
13.40 – Panel discussion with Q&A – these are only some of the major environmental injustices affecting Belfast, so will an independent EPA help sort these issues?
14.10 – Closing comments with The Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Áine Groogan
14.20 -Lunch
14.45 – Finish
This event at Belfast City Hall is by kind permission of The Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Áine Groogan.
