Building Collective Power for Feminist Climate Justice in Higher Education

In recognition and celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, this meeting will focus on feminism and gender justice in considering how higher education could and should be responding to ecological and social crises.

In-person only.

Provisional schedule below:

9:30-10 – Registration and coffee

10:10:45 – Welcome and updates on the Climate Justice Universities Union

10:45-11 – What is a Feminist Climate Justice?

11 – 12 – Discussion on Community-Based Feminist Climate Justice in Higher Education. Including showcase of Maynooth University’s certificate program in feminist climate justice in the Department of Applied Social Studies.

12-12:05 – Wild Geeze introductions

12:05-12:45 Lunch Break

12:45-1:45 – Wild Geeze music, discussion and humour about transformative feminist climate justice

1:45-2 Break

2-3 – Strategic Planning in Working Groups – everyone will choose which of multiple working groups they want to join for strategic planning.

3-3:30 – Reporting back on working groups’ planning discussions.

3:30 – 4 – Reflections and Wrap-up including remarks and strategic advice from Ailbhe Smyth

4-6 – Optional drinks and continued discussion.

Overnight accommodation at Maynooth University will be available on either the Thursday night before or the Friday night after for those who need accommodation.
