Deep diving into data from the People in the Outdoors Monitor for Northern Ireland

Date: Wednesday 30th August
Time: 11:00 – 12:30
Location: Microsoft Teams
Price: Free

The webinar will give participants an overview of headline outdoor recreation data as well as insights from deep-dive analysis into the impact of deprivation, rural v urban location, and disability and long-term illness on greenspace access and people’s participation in outdoor recreation activities.

The People in the Outdoors Monitor for Northern Ireland (POMNI) gathers evidence and trend data through an omnibus survey relating to how people engage with the natural environment, the benefits they gain from it, and the barriers they face trying to access it.

Building on the launch of POMNI results last year, this webinar will provide insight from deep dive analyses of the data gathered from over 6000 responses in the first POMNI survey. The aim is to improve our understanding of:

The impact of deprivation on outdoor recreation participation
The urban-rural disparity in greenspace access
The experience of outdoor recreation for people with disability or long-term illness.
With various POMNI resources now available including a headline report, an infographic video, deep-dive reports, and Factsheets for all Councils, this event will demonstrate how the data can be accessed and its many use cases.

The webinar will be led by Elizabeth Annett (Communication and Training Specialist, Outdoor Recreation NI) and Duncan Stewart (Founding Director, 56 Degree Insight).
