Film Showing ‘Rights of Nature Ireland: The Movement’

Why should a river have rights?

Why do corporations have rights and trees don’t?

What would the Rights of Nature look like on this island?

How would we go about making that happen?

EJNI has spoken to the people the island over who have some answers to these questions. These are the voices of the grassroots, the communities on the frontlines of environmental injustice who see Rights of Nature as an important framework for standing up and speaking for nature.

Who will speak for the trees? We will!

4pm – 5pm: A light supper and networking opportunity

5pm – 5.45pm: Film screening

5.45 – 6.30pm Q&A with the directors and voices featured in the film.

This event is free but spaces are limited so registration is essential.

Join us also for an event earlier in the day ‘Protecting the Protectors’ – organised in partnership with Friends of the Earth NI. We’ll hear from local Water Protectors, experts on the criminalisation of protest on the island of Ireland and further afield, and special guests – Lakota Standing Rock Water Protectors. Booking for this is also essential – which you can do here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/protecting-the-protectors-tickets-611170997907
