Community Law and Mediation is running a webinar on Thursday April 3rd from 12-1pm on Ireland's proposed carbon budgets from 2031-2040.

Ireland's Climate Change Advisory Council has provided recommended carbon budgets from 2031-2040 to the Government. Carbon budgets limit the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions that can be released in Ireland during this period. A public consultation is set to open on the carbon budgets soon.

Join us to discuss the scientific adequacy of the carbon budgets, Ireland's legal obligations in adopting carbon budgets, and the role of activism and civil society in ensuring that our carbon budgets are fair and ambitious. We are delighted to be joined by the below expert speakers:

·Professor John Sweeney contributed to the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. He is a regular contributor to print and broadcast media on matters related to climate change science and policy and received the inaugural award for achievements in journalism from the European Meteorological Society in 2014.

·Cassie Roddy-Mullineaux is a Lawyer with Global Legal Action Network working in the area of climate change litigation. With a deep commitment to justice and sustainability, Cassie's work focuses on holding powerful actors accountable for their contributions to the climate crisis.

·Dr. Graeme Hayes is a lecturer in Sociology and Policy in Aston University, where his research focuses on social movements, with an emphasis on disobedience, tactics, and institutional arenas.
