The business environment is increasingly competitive and corporate accountability is on the agenda of many management boards. Misrepresentations about green credentials have been investigated by the Competition & Markets Authority. The Financial Conduct Authority has recently issued Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) for FCA-authorised companies. The FCA introduced the anti-greenwashing rule to clarify that sustainability-related claims about products and services must be fair, clear and not misleading. In addition, many of the major Financial institutions have introduced due diligence checks on the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) credentials of organisations seeking investment.
