Waterways are being poisoned, protected sites are being polluted, sensitive uplands are cloaked in ammonia, native woodlands have virtually disappeared, Lough Neagh is being killed…….and the list goes on.

Nature is under threat like never before and it’s time for a critical intervention. We cannot wait any longer – we must demand an independent EPA now. But it must be an EPA that is fit to deal with the current ecological crisis. It must be an EPA that can confront power, that is well resourced, that can prosecute without fear or favour, and that can deliver environmental justice.

Join us for a series of short films, which includes the launch of two new films – one on the need for an EPA, and the other on Lough Neagh – developed in partnership with UK Green Building Council (UKGBC). This will be followed by speakers and a panel discussion, to hear from a range of voices on how we ensure that the EPA we get is truly transformational.

The Gathering’s in the morning there are options to take part in a writing workshop with local poet and writer, Maura Johnston, or go on a guided walk with local historian and archaeologist, Thomas McErlean. The afternoon will have a focus on Lough Neagh and will have a range of speakers and will be followed by dinner. Book your free tickets here.

Saturday 29 June – 7.30pm, Beyond Tradition: ‘Food for my Soul’.

Inspired by rural childhoods and a trip along the River Bann from Portglenone to Lough Neagh, dancer Mary McGuiggan, poet Maura Johnston and musician Paraig O’Brien have created a colourful journey through poetry, music and dance. Joining them will be traditional step dancer Joe McGuiggan, historian and archaeologist Tom McErlean and singer-songwriter Colum Sands.
