The Art of Resistance

Organisation Save our Sperrins
Date 2nd November 2023 06:00 PM (GMT)

We invite you to the opening of ‘The Art of Resistance’, an exhibition to celebrate the power of communities who are fighting for environmental justice and which explores the contested heritage that is situated in areas under threat of extractivism in Northern Ireland. The artists involved have created work responding to places, folklore, heritage, people, stories that represent this place we all call home. This exhibition is a platform to share what we as society want to save and protect in our villages, towns, cities and rural areas.

All proceeds from the sale of work are in aid of Save our Sperrins crowdfunder campaign. For more details see here –

Date: Thursday 2nd November 2023

Time: 6.00pm – 8.30pm

Venue: 2 Royal Avenue, Belfast

Light refreshments will be provided.

We are delighted to announce that comedian and playwright Nuala McKeever will be opening the exhibition. We will have harp music by Aisling Cowan and a piece by local poet Niamh McNally.

Across Northern Ireland, there are many environmental campaigns coming together through the arts, heritage and music with a common goal which to save and protect our environment. We have over 40 artists exhibiting in this exhibition from different parts of the world passionate about our environment here in Northern Ireland. Come along and support grassroot communities standing up for environmental justice.

We are very grateful for the support from the many organisations who have reached out to support this exhibition. We thank the National Lottery Heritage Fund for supporting this initiative.
